We are thrilled to welcome to our salon internationally acclaimed violinist Maja Horvat, winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society Emily Anderson Prize. Leader of the acclaimed Heath Quartet, Maja has appeared with major orchestras in UK and abroad.

She will be making her Notable debut together with our artistic director Pavel Timofeyevsky at the piano, as they bring to life the remarkable stories and music at the heart of this special daytime concert.

On Friday, 6 March, join us for “Queens of the Salon” — a violin and piano storytelling recital from our Her Story series celebrating women in music.

Step into the glittering salons of Europe, where musical history was shaped not only by composers, but by the extraordinary women who inspired, sustained and transformed them. Behind the masterpieces we revere stand formidable figures — patrons, friends, muses, confidantes and creators whose taste, intellect and devotion altered the course of cultural history.

Travel through the artistic circles of 19th- and early 20th-century Paris, London, Berlin and St Petersburg, and encounter remarkable women such as Fanny Mendelssohn, Winnaretta Singer, Nadezhda von Meck, Pauline Viardot, Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge, and many others.
